IELTS Exam Tips for Band 9

You might be familiar with IELTS, the International English Language Testing System. It is the world’s most popular high-stakes English language proficiency test for study, work and migration in English speaking countries. But, did you know that now you can take the same IELTS test on a computer?

You read that just right! IELTS test can also be taken on a computer and here’s all that you need to know about it.

About IELTS Computer-Delivered

The computer-delivered IELTS test is a fast and convenient way to take the test. However, you still have the liberty to choose between a paper-based test and the test on a computer. So if you don’t have a good typing speed, it is advisable to choose the paper-based format.

A good reason to choose computer-delivered IELTS is that you get to your results within 5-7 days, whereas, the result of the paper-based format comes after 13 days from the date of the completion of your last test. And regardless of whether you choose to take the IELTS test on paper or on a computer, you will receive the same test report form.

How is the test different?

Although the test is taken on a computer, all other aspects of the test are the same as the paper-based IELTS.

The Listening, Reading and Writing sections of the test are taken using a computer while the speaking test remains face-to-face, conducted by an IELTS examiner. All the parts of the computer-delivered test will be the same as the paper-based test in terms of content, scoring, level of difficulty and question types.
