Capitalize the first word in every complete line of poetry.

Instructions: Capitalize each word that needs a capital letter.

1. “loveliest of trees, the cherry now

is hung with bloom along the bough,”

2. “roses are red.

violets are blue.”

3. “under a spreading chestnut tree

the village smithy stands.”

4. “once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore–”

5. “jack and jill

went up the hill,

to fetch a pail of water;

jack fell down,

and broke his crown,

and jill came tumbling after.”
